Lincoln Students are the First All-Girls Team Ever

Four Lincoln students participated in the PBS High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island on Saturday as the first all-female team ever. This was a two-day single elimination tournament among eight qualifying high school teams. Read more HERE. The rounds were taped as they will be broadcast over seven weeks in the spring of 2018 on Rhode Island PBS. The audience was full of enthusiastic Lincoln fans who got a crash course in the taping of a television show. Rhode Island native and Seinfeld, Dancing with the Stars, and Family Feud star John O’Hurley as emcee added an extra note of glamour.

High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island is the newest opportunity for Rhode Island high school students to vie for the glory of a championship title. The Lincoln team members, one member from each class, were drawn by lottery to ensure that everyone had an equal chance. The team members were:

John Smith the producer of RI PBS sent John Minahan the message below after the show.

"Rhode Island PBS is honored to have had Lincoln School participate on the show. You and your students should be incredibly proud as well, being the first all-female team to ever participate on High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island. They are an incredible group of young women and I do want to let you know that those of us in the control room thought that your team was one of most calm, articulate and commanding teams we had on the show. It is not easy to be in front of the cameras and perform in the way that they did. We certainly hope to see Lincoln return again next fall."
