Assistant Instructor

Assistant Instructors help the Lead Instructor to oversee their designated camp. They will have a group of students attending their camp that range in age anywhere from 4 year olds up to 14 year olds, depending on the camp. They will work on a team with a combination of lead instructors and counselors with the support of the Camps Coordinator, Meaghan D'Abrosca, who handles logistics such as registration, billing, and purchasing materials for the camps. Gardens + Greens Camp Assistant Instructor

Dates and Times

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm (minus 4th of July)
  • Weeks of 7/5, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1, 8/8, 8/15, 8/22

Essential Duties

  • Assistant in leading a group of a maximum of 16 students ages 4 - 6
  • Help facilitate both morning and afternoon programming consisting of various outdoor hikes, gardening, crafts, reading, water play, and more
  • Contribute to and participate in other daily camp activities, check-in and check-out, and snack and lunch supervision

Requirements

  • Genuine love and interest in working with children and/or education
  • Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and enthusiasm each day
  • Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently 
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally
  • A great communicator with families and guardians 
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by the start of camp to ensure staff and campers are as safe and healthy as possible and to comply with enhanced health and safety protocols  

Experience & Education 

  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Preferred experience with the age group you will be leading
  • Experience working in a camp or enrichment program setting a plus
