Making Space: An Introduction to Architecture
This foundational studio semester-long course for Lincoln Upper School students introduces them to foundational design principles and techniques, including hand-drawing, collaging, model-making, and fabrication.
The credit-bearing course will ask students to reconsider space through a series of lectures, workshops, and hands-on assignments that emphasize creative problem-solving, design thinking, and critical engagement with the built environment. The ultimate goal of the course (taught at RISD School of Architecture) is to frame architectural making and design processes in the broader context of Lincoln students’ individual areas of interest. Upon completion of the course, students will understand how to advance their personal ideas and creative practices through architectural methods.
