Providence- April 18, 2024 - Lincoln School is proud to unveil Terza Lima-Neves '95 as the Commencement Speaker for the Class of 2024, which will take place on June 11, 2024. With a distinguished career spanning education, activism, and advocacy, Lima-Neves epitomizes the values of leadership and service foundational to Lincoln School.

A Cabo Verdean woman, dedicated wife, and mother, Lima-Neves has excelled in her roles as an award-winning educator, scholar, and advocate for Black African feminist causes. Her journey, from Lincoln School alumna to renowned thought leader, is a testament to the transformative power of education and the pursuit of social justice.

After earning her undergraduate degree in political science from Providence College, Lima-Neves went on to pursue her M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Clark Atlanta University. Her academic achievements have been matched only by her commitment to community engagement and activism.

In 2021, Lima-Neves authored "Remembrance, Resistance and Revolution: Kriolas Poderozas," a groundbreaking work that explores the intersection of identity, memory, and empowerment among Cabo Verdean women. Her dedication to amplifying marginalized voices extends beyond academia, as evidenced by her roles as co-founder of Poderoza, an International Conference on Cabo Verdean Women which brings together Cape Verdean women from Rhode Island and around the world, and founding president of the Cape Verdeans of the Carolinas Association.

Lima-Neves is delighted for the opportunity to come back to the school that has made an indelible impact on her life. "It's always a treat to return to Lincoln, a place I called my piece of heaven. But to be invited by young brilliant women to speak at their special day? It doesn't get better than this,” she said.

Sophie Glenn Lau '88, Head of School at Lincoln School, also expressed her excitement at Lima-Neves's selection as the 2024 Commencement Speaker, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Terza Lima-Neves back to her alma mater to offer remarks to the Class of 2024.
