The National French Contest, known as Le Grand Concours, is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). Each year, students in grades 6-12 at Lincoln take this written test and compete for national and state recognition prizes against students with similar educational backgrounds in all 50 states and abroad.
This year, nearly 48,000 students across the country participated in Le Grand Concours. Rhode Island saw an impressive 22 % increase in participation compared to last year. This underlines the importance of the French language and Francophone cultures in Rhode Island schools and the dedication of our students.
Yesterday, the Rhode Island Chapter of the AATF held its annual award ceremony at the Providence Technical and Career Academy. Students scoring in the 75th percentile and above were recognized for their achievements. Lincoln students earned an impressive total of 17 medals—7 bronze, 6 silver, and 4 gold.
Additionally, special awards were presented to top-performing students in levels 4 and 5. Lincoln is proud to announce that two of these special prizes were earned by our very own students:
Pamela D-R ‘25 was awarded the Grand Prix Alliance Française de Providence as the best overall score by a Senior in Rhode Island.
Lucy P. ‘26 was awarded the Prix Délégation du Québec as the best overall Junior runner-up in Rhode Island.
