Katy Wood Receives 2024 Dorothy W. Gifford Chair Award

We are pleased to announce that beloved science teacher Katy Wood is the 2024 recipient of the Dorothy W. Gifford Chair Award.

Katy Wood has been part of the Lincoln School community since 2002. Initially, she began her teaching career at Lincoln in the fourth grade, but transitioned to teaching middle school science in 2009. Her continued dedication to the school is driven by the warm and welcoming community of colleagues and students that she enjoys being around. Katy cherishes the freedom to infuse creativity and fun into her classroom, the opportunities for outdoor and off-campus learning, and, most importantly, the chance to work with students who are excited about learning.

Each year, a Lincoln School faculty member is nominated by his or her peers to be the recipient of this award. Given for excellence in teaching and service to the school after the fashion of Dorothy Gifford, the award honors dedication and willingness to exceed professional requirements in the life of the school. Dorothy came to Lincoln in 1926 as head of the science department, and taught here for 45 years. After her retirement, Dorothy continued to be deeply involved in the affairs of the school.

Wood will be celebrated at a special ceremony this fall. Congratulations to Ms. Wood, and thank you for all you do for Lincoln School!
