August 3, 2022

Dear Upper School Students and Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying some much deserved rest and rejuvenation after what was another long and challenging school year. I imagine that you are are settling into the slower pace of the summer months by now spending time with family and friends, reading good books, and getting outside as much as possible to enjoy this gorgeous summer weather. I have had some wonderful moments with my family at the beach swimming, relaxing and playing in the sand as we do every year; these moments are the ones that truly recharge my heart and soul and I wish the same for you in the coming weeks of August.

It is amazing how quickly the months of June and July have flown by, and I find it hard to believe that I am writing to you to turn our attention to the fall and the 2022-23 school year. Though the halls of Lincoln have been quiet without the buzz of students and faculty, our administrative team has been busy this summer getting ready for the fall and all of the exciting programming that awaits the Upper School students in 2022-2023 school year. In the wake of the past two years where COVID-19 has dictated so much of how school has felt and operated, I am very excited to come back to Lincoln this fall and collectively celebrate our community and the joy of learning that has always been the hallmark of the Lincoln experience. We have lots in store for this year and I look forward to sharing more in the opening days of school.

We are excited to welcome a host of new students to the Lincoln community. These young women come to Lincoln from a myriad of schools and towns in and around the Providence area, Southeastern Massachusetts, and even China! The Lincoln academic experience is deeply rooted in the sharing of multiple perspectives and we are so excited to hear and see all of the amazing ideas, interests, and talents that our new students will bring to our work together as a school community. And, I am certain that our returning students will welcome the new members of our Upper School with open arms as they always do!

Please spend some time looking at the important information below in preparation for the coming school year.

Important August Updates

On the Upper School Hub you will find important reminders for upcoming events, in addition to updates about interesting things that have happened in classes or in our larger community.

Please visit Hub to ensure that you have filled out all of the forms required to start the school year and to access any pertinent information about summer work/reading, and the schedule for the start of school. The Upper School Hub is the place to go during the school year when you are looking for important information about all things Lincoln!

The Schedule

We operate on a seven-day rotating block schedule. You will be able to take a look at your weekly schedule on the portal. Class lists are currently available on the portal and final day-to-day schedules will be available the week of September 1.

Please see the attached schematic of a typical Upper School schedule here.

Drop Off, Pick Up, and After School Study Hall

Students may start arriving at school at 7:30 a.m. and classes begin promptly at 8 a.m. School will end at 3:15 p.m., and families should pick up students between 3:15 and 3:30 in the Front Circle. Sports or after school study hall will begin at 3:30 p.m. After school study hall runs until 4:30 p.m. All Upper School students who elect to stay on campus between 3:15 and 4:30 p.m. will be required to check into the study hall in the Upper School student lounges with the afternoon proctor.

Please note that Upper School students who leave campus at the end of the day may not return to campus to be picked up. It is important to us that both families and school staff work in collaboration on behalf of student oversight and safety. Students who are not picked up by 4:30 p.m. will be required to move to the living room where they will await pickup by families. No students are allowed to stay at school beyond 6 p.m.
