Hello Lincoln families!

We are thrilled to welcome you back to campus next week! I trust that you have had a great remote start to the school year—I have heard from many teachers about how happy they were to connect with their students virtually this week.

Though much of what we love about Lincoln remains the same, there are some logistical aspects of our return to campus that have changed. Pick-up and drop-off will look a bit different this year.

  • All parents will have to complete a COVID-19 screening on behalf of each child every morning before 7:30 a.m. and show it to on-duty staff members.
  • Parents with children in N–Grade 12 will complete their screenings via the Magnus mobile app. Find out more information about how to set up and use the app.
  • The completed screening will take you to this screen, which you should present each morning:

  • Little School (Carriage House, Little School, Beech Tree, and Little Oak) will continue to use Daily Connect.
  • No students will be allowed to enter the building without the COVID-19 screening completed each morning.
  • Parents will be asked to show on-duty staff their child’s completed Magnus COVID-19 screening on their phone each morning before their child is allowed to exit the car and come onto campus.
  • Students who are not dropped off by a parent are also required to have a complete Magnus COVID-19 screening—their names will be checked at the Red Doors before entering each morning.
  • For parents with students in more than one division, please follow the protocol for the younger child’s grade, and reach out to your division directors with any questions.
  • Due to health and safety reasons, no students will be allowed on campus before 7:30 a.m.

Please see below for information about our morning and afternoon traffic patterns and procedures per division.

Little School and Early Childhood (Nursery & PreK):

Carriage House:

  • Little School parents will continue to access the Carriage House by way of East Orchard Avenue (from Butler Avenue), turning right on Paterson Street and utilizing the available 15-minute parking spots before entering the building.
  • Parents will continue to use the Daily Connect app to fill out their child’s health information.

Little School and Early Childhood (Nursery & PreK) Classroom and Drop Off:

  • Parents whose children are students in the new Little School building or in the Early Childhood classrooms should approach campus on East Orchard Avenue, by way of Parkside Road. Drop-off and pick-up parking can be found in the Brookside Avenue lot or the 15-minute parking in front of 64 East Orchard Street.
  • Parents with students in Hillary Jackson’s Oak Room and Ginkgo will walk their children to the front door of Lower School, where Giovonne Calenda will be waiting to greet them, check the Magnus COVID-19 screening, and walk children to their classroom between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
  • Note: some Early Childhood parents have historically elected to drop their children off in the front circle along with Lower School students. If you’d prefer that, you may follow the below Lower School Drop Off procedures.
  • Parents with students in Beech Tree, Little Oak and Christine Boulay’s Oak Room should be dropped off at the back door of the Lower School playground. Isa Cespedes will be waiting to greet them, check the Magnus COVID-19 screening, and walk children to their classroom between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
  • Parents with children in Carriage House, Little School, Beech Tree, or Little Oak will continue to use the Daily Connect app to fill out their child’s health information.

Little School and Early Childhood Pick Up:

  • For Beech Tree and Little Oak, parents should use the back playground gate or door depending on the weather to sign out with their child’s teacher.
  • Oak and Ginkgo students who are not in Extended Day should be picked in the Brookside Parking Lot at the bottom of the stairs at 2:55 p.m.
  • Parents with students in Oak and Gingko who participate in Extended Day should call the Extended Day phone number (401-455-1138) when they arrive for pick up, after which they may pick up their child at the front door of Lower School.

Lower School Drop Off:

  • All Lower School students (and Early Childhood students, should their parents find that helpful) should be dropped off in the front circle. (No other divisions will be utilizing the front circle for drop off).
  • Lower School families should continue to access the front circle by approaching via East Orchard Avenue from Parkside Avenue, turning right into the circle. After dropping off, they may exit the front circle via Paterson Street.
  • On their first day of in-person learning, parents will be able to park (street parking only) to walk their children to their classroom doors, at which time the Magnus COVID-19 screening will be checked, to ensure children are comfortable and settled. (Note: in recognition of their age-specific needs, parents of children in Kindergarten will be able to walk their children to the external classroom door throughout the year.)
  • On every other day, after parents show their child’s completed Magnus COVID-19 screening to designated faculty and staff in the front circle, their child will walk to Lower School along the front path, where faculty and staff will be there to welcome them and help them along their way from a safe distance. Students will be expected to carry their own backpacks and other belongings into school.

Lower School Traffic Flow

Lower School Pick Up:

  • Lower School will have two separate pick up times, both in the front circle:
    • Grades K–2: 2:55 p.m.
    • Grades 3–5: 3:05 p.m.
  • For students in Kindergarten who elect to stay later, parents should call the Extended Day phone number when they arrive, 401-455-1138, after which they may pick up their child directly from the exterior Kindergarten classroom door.
  • For students in Homework Club & Extended Day (Grades 1–5) parents should call the Extended Day phone number when they arrive, 401-455-1138, after which they may pick up their child at the Lower School Library doors, which can be accessed via Brookside Avenue.

Middle and Upper School Drop Off:

  • Parents of Middle and Upper Schoolers who drive their children to school will access campus via East Orchard Avenue, from Butler Avenue.
  • Parking on this one-way stretch of East Orchard will not be allowed in order to make room for a drive-through health check and drop off.
  • Parking spots on the left side of East Orchard will be designated for Middle and Upper School student drop off, and the right side will be reserved to ensure adequate traffic flow.
  • Parents will be asked to line up along the left hand side of the street beginning at 7:30 a.m.
  • Faculty and staff will be checking families’ Magnus COVID-19 screening at the front of the line near the stop signs—please have your phone at the ready to show the Green Go screen as you approach the front of the line.
  • After the screening has been checked, the student may exit the car and the parent may turn right on Paterson Street.
  • If the Magnus COVID-19 screening has not been completed at the time of drop off, parents will be instructed to leave the line, drive to a safe location to complete the Magnus COVID-19 screening. Only after it is complete may they rejoin the line to have their app checked and drop off their child.
  • Students who are not dropped off by a parent will have their Magnus COVID-19 screening checked at the Red Doors before entering the building.
  • If a student has been dropped off without a completed daily screening and their parent is unavailable, students will be required to wait outside of the building until their parent can be contacted and the daily screening completed.

Middle & Upper School Traffic Flow

Middle and Upper School Pick Up:

  • Middle and Upper Schoolers should be picked up at the front circle no earlier than 3:15 p.m.
  • Students must go to after-school study hall if they are not in athletics, or wish to remain at school after 3:30 p.m.
  • If you arrive earlier than 3:15 p.m., please do not enter the front circle until after that time in order to allow for a smooth Lower School pick up process.

We recognize that this is a lot of information, but I’m confident that this approach will serve the community well. Please reach out to your division director with any questions. Thank you for all your partnership in making this a safe and successful start of the year!

Onward together,
Sophie Glenn Lau‘’88
