Trust and Hope: Leticia Lopes ’13, Board of Trustees, on Lincoln Connect

Leticia Lopes ’13 isn’t afraid to blaze her own trail. Leticia, currently a technology analyst within the Cloud First Workday practice at Accenture daynine, specializes in the field of change management, a fitting expertise for someone who has been a catalyst for change in other areas of her life.

Leticia was not only the Lincoln Scholar for her graduating class and the Jane Woodruff Grenough award recipient, which honors a senior who exemplifies the life and spirit of Lincoln School, but following Lincoln she received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, the only black woman to receive that degree in 2017. She is also the newest member of Lincoln Schools Board of Trustees, and one of the youngest to ever join.

When faced with the professional world after graduation, Leticia looked to a fellow Lincoln alumna, Stephanie Chamberlin ’88, the director of Human Resources at Ximedica, to help her find her way.

“I connected with Stephanie, and she really portrayed what it was to be a girl outside of Lincoln,” said Leticia, who noted that though the result was great, the process was a bit difficult. “I had a hard time figuring out how to connect—where to go, who to call—but what’s beautiful about now having Lincoln Connect is that there are a slew of Stephanies out there.... I know they exist. I just haven’t had the pleasure of meeting them yet.”

Leticia trusts that future generations of Lincoln women will be able to use Lincoln Connect, the digital alumnae community, to forge connections with their predecessors that will make a real impact on their personal and professional lives.

“Knowing there’s a place to go where we can meet these women, and that they are willing to help, is so exciting. Knowing you have the security of a team of women around you, that is so unique. You can’t get that anywhere else,” said Leticia.

And Leticia’s hope is that as her career grows and her circles expand, she may someday be able to help another Lincoln girl.

“Eventually, I hope that I can be someone else’s Stephanie,” said Leticia. “Lincoln Connect brings us all together.”
