Extra, Extra: SEEDling Style Week Stories Recap!

This week's SEEDling runway show featuring three talented student designers (and one talented student model!) resulted in some outstanding garments, the start of a powerful partnership between StyleWeek Northeast and Lincoln School, and great media coverage from some of the most prominent print and online publications in the state.

STYLEWEEK SEASON 14: LINCOLN SCHOOL STUDENTS SHINE IN SEEDLINGS DESIGN CHALLENGE

Don’t throw that newspaper into the recycling bin! Did you know it could be weaved it into a dress? For StyleWeek opening night, three incredible Lincoln School students showcased their fashion designs constructed completely from recycled materials. Senior Willa Summers, eleventh-grader Maeve McEnroe, and ninth-grader Brigitte Lynch-Johnson, all participated in the StyleWeek Seedlings Student Design Challenge. The craftsmanship and creativity of these young designers was influenced by the Lincoln School’s STEAM hub program: Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

StyleWeek Northeast: Fashions from 3 Lincoln School students hit the runway

During the opening night of StyleWeek Northeast three models will walk the runway in designs made completely of recycled materials by three high school students.

Their creations are adorned with pop tabs, a motherboard and microchips, and woven strips of newspapers.

StyleWeek: SEEDlings Challenge

These [Lincoln School] school students will put on a full runway show having constructed pieces based out of recyclable material influenced by STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

“I think a lot of people don’t realize that when it comes to stem and steam we use all of those categories in fashion design geometry mathematics…you need all of those skills to construct samples in fashion,” said Rosanna Ortiz from Styleweek.

When StyleWeek Northeast returns to the Convention Center from February 21 to 24, there will be runway shows from designers from all over the country and from Europe. There will also be the youngest designers in the history of StyleWeek: three creative students from Lincoln School.
