Where Curiosity and Connection Begin

At Lincoln, the girls' school experience begins in Kindergarten, where students through Grade 5 eagerly explore, question, wonder, and reflect.

They might collect and examine sea life along the shores of Narragansett Bay, or problem-solve through an engineering design challenge. As students progress through the grades, they might analyze issues of social justice; for example, students study the Holocaust in 5th Grade. Experiences like these create critical and passionate thinkers who possess solid foundational skills.

Our students learn to face and embrace problems, to be leaders, and to act as caring and cooperative classmates. Together, we celebrate their accomplishments and support their exploration, fostering a sense of community, camaraderie, and pride.

Lincoln Libraries

Lincoln’s libraries provide a diverse array of print and online resources to facilitate and extend learning, support and enrich the curriculum, and meet students’ individual reading and learning needs. Our libraries are inviting spaces for the Lincoln community to gather, learn, reflect, and explore. And our professional librarians curate collections and design instruction programs to stimulate inquiry and creativity at all levels.

Curriculum Overview:
Lower School students gather in library class once a week to hear stories, build skills, and conduct developmentally appropriate project-based research. The Lower School librarian designs curriculum, lessons, and enrichment to teach students to appreciate literature and become confident, independent library users. Classes focus on age-appropriate texts that emphasize cultural awareness and empathy while introducing students to new genres. Students in grades 2–5 participate in literary-based programs including the Rooster Games, Battle of the Books, and Mock Caldecott Awards. They critique literature, assess illustrated artforms, and trade book recommendations with friends. Students incorporate technology into library projects, filming book trailers with the green screen or creating podcasts about cherished characters.

Academic Support

Academic Support is available to all Lower, Middle, and Upper School students. The goal is to develop a plan that enables each student to reach their learning potential in a supportive and empowering environment. We believe academic support should be a partnership between the teachers, administrators, and families to help students develop the strategies they need to become independent learners. The Student Support Team works in concert with classroom teachers and parents to monitor students' progress, work on organizational skills, modify study strategies, set goals, and make additional recommendations when appropriate.

Lunch Program

Lincoln is pleased to partner with FLIK Dining Services to serve fresh, healthy meals on campus. FLIK focuses on fresh, from scratch foods, while striving to make decisions that are environmentally and economically sustainable. As a company, they are dedicated to “creating memorable dining experiences that nourish our community and elevate campus life.”

Lunch is included in tuition.
Daily meals include vegetarian and gluten-free options, hormone-free milk, salad bar, and soup.

Our Dining Room is a warm, open space designed to function both as a welcoming dining area for all three divisions and a multi-purpose meeting room.

Transportation

Students attending Lincoln reside in dozens of cities and towns in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Families who live in participating towns and cities may want to consider transportation opportunities available through state-sponsored busing.

If none of these options fit your family’s schedule, many Lincoln families arrange carpools throughout the year. Through the online Parent Portal, families can identify other families in the Student Directory who live in their geographic area, and are encouraged to connect to organize transportation.
