This calculus course is intended to follow a year of precalculus. It will help you to master the terminology and concepts of calculus. While introducing the new concepts of derviatives and integral, we will be reviewing many precalculus topics. The concept of instantaneous rate of change is presented and forms the basis of the concept of limits that is studied both intuitively and formally. The result of this process will lead the students to the formal definition of derivative, techniques for finding derivatives, how this aids in curve sketching and some practical applications. The integral concept is developed and applied. The TI-84 will be used to verify student results. We will also be studying some of the history of calculus and discuss how calclulus has applications in so many areas.
