Lincoln’s Rowers Make Splash At World Indoor Rowing Championships
Boston, MA/February 19: It was quite a sight to scan the floor of Boston University’s Agganis Arena; there were representatives from Germany, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Great Britain, Brazil, Norway as well as many from the United States. But wait... among the 2,000 competitors in the 2012 World Indoor Rowing Championships (a/k/a CRASH B Sprints) were four members of this year’s Lincoln School Varsity Crew team.
The competition is a grueling 2,000 Meter race on the ERG machine. Kelsey Anderson (8:15.9) was our fastest rower finishing 2nd in her heat, 45th of 100 overall and besting all Rhode Island rowers in the Junior Women’s Lightweight division. Grace Ryan (8:18.1), Lauren Moran (8:25:4) and Rachel Ford (8:28.8) gave Lincoln strong representation in the Junior Women’s Heavyweight division.
This was the 30th year of the CRASH-Bs (sponsored by Concept2) featured over 2,000 rowers, and attracted a record crowd of 7,000. Many of the competitors came as representatives from regional competition around the globe.
Congratulations to all of our rowers.
