The Variety Show

The Variety show highlights singing solos, group dances, instrumentals, humorous skits, acrobatics, and stage hands. The eagerness of the girls to participate shows a comfort with performing that reflects their work in school as well as their extracurricular activities.  The girls gave each other support, high-fiving their classmates as they returned to their seats. We all appreciated the courage and effort that performance takes and were so proud of them.  Many thanks to Tracy DiTroia for her work on the Variety Show.  Without her inspiration, this would not be!

When Boys get More Classroom Attention than Girls
Researchers indicate that teachers (unintentionally) give more classroom attention and more self-esteem building encouragement to boys than to girls over the course of the school day. Read about this 20-year study.

According to a new study, less than half the time that children age 2 to 10 watch or interact with electronic screens is spent on what parents consider “educational” material.

Traffic

There are two VERY IMPORTANT traffic issues we would like to address:

  1. Do not leave your cars unattended in the front circle or in the Lower School driveway.  You MUST remain in your car in case emergency vehicles have to access the school.  Cars left unattended hinder access to large vehicles such as fire trucks or ambulances.  This is for the safety of the students.  If you have to come into the building, please park on the street.
  2. The traffic pattern we suggest does not override city ordinances. Even though we ask that Lower School drop-off/pick-up circle the block to prevent two-way traffic issues (particularly in the snow), you should not park facing the wrong direction on the opposite side of the street to drop off.
There is a traffic and safety web page with aerial maps that graphically demonstrate these issues.
