Celebrating the Lincoln LYNX!
On September 24, 2012, Lincoln students, parents, alumnae, grandparents and friends celebrated the naming of the Murray Family Athletic Complex at Faxon Farm and grand opening of the new Carriage House, terrace and outdoor fireplace. This all-school celebration marks a major milestone in Lincoln’s plan create the premier athletic facilities for girls playing soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and tennis.
Phase I was completed in September 2008 with the completion of the Perlman Family Field, the first synthetic turf field in Southeastern, MA and Rhode Island devoted exclusively to all-girls field hockey, soccer and lacrosse.
Phase II was finished in September 2010 with the creation of the Boss Family Tennis Center featuring six all-weather tennis courts and a new natural turf championship-sized field.
Phase III has focused on an extensive renovation of Faxon Farm’s historic Carriage House to provide new restrooms, a beautiful outdoor terrace and the Canning Family outdoor fireplace for community gatherings.
Thanks to a generous lead gift from Terry and Suzanne Young Murray ’58 and the Murray family, Lincoln has been engaged in an ambitious fund-raising campaign to support this project. Speaking on behalf of the Murray Family, alumna and Board Chair, Paula Murray McNamara ’80 shares
“Lincoln School has been a part of our family for three generations. It has been so exciting to see this first-class athletic facility take shape from its earliest stages to today's ribbon-cutting. We have created THE premier athletic complex for girls’ soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and tennis in Southern New England. Our girls deserve this benefit. We are thrilled that they can enjoy an athletic facility that allows them to reach their goals, just as they do every day in our classrooms. My parents and the rest of our family are proud to have been able to lead this effort, to help inspire others to support Lincoln and to be part of a legacy of athletics at our school for this and future generations of Lincoln girls.”
Thanks to the additional generosity of Lincoln alumnae, parents and friends, more than $2.3 million has been raised to date. Click here for the Honor Roll of Donors.
