Middle School community service is a busy group comprised of self-selected students from Grades 6 through 8. In the fall, the Middle School participated in a breast cancer awareness walk and we raised over $5,300 for breast cancer, which we donated to the Breast Health Center at Women and Infants Hospital. During the holiday season we donated over $700 in gift cards to Family Services of Rhode Island. We also participated in a clothing drive for Angels Among Us, creating gift boxes with clothing, toys and essentials for twelve children.
We will again be busy this spring, as the Middle School sponsors a community Blood Drive on April 28 and organizes several activities for Earth Day. We'll be raising money for Heifer International and Wells for Life, a project that the 8th grade will be organizing, providing access to clean well water for a small community in India. Finally, the entire Middle School will participate in the school-wide Day of Service in May.
