Advisor Program

The Middle School Advising Program is integral to our community.  Each student is assigned an advisor who is one of her teachers.  Students arrive each morning and start the day by shaking hands with their advisors, discussing their plans for after-school and ensuring that all is well.  While a formal advisor time is scheduled once a week for advisors and advisees to meet to discuss academics, extra-curriculars, non-school related issues, and of course, the social issues that play such an important role in the lives of Middle Schoolers, often are the times that students and adults can be found chatting informally at the bubbler or sharing in a pizza lunch party.  Based on weekly team meetings, advisors are kept abreast of their advisees' progress in all areas of their school day; in turn, the advisor communicates via telephone or e-mail with parents on a regular basis. Additionally, Parent/Advisor conferences are scheduled twice a year, once in the fall and again in the early spring.
