¡Bienvenidas a la clase de español del cuarto grado!
OVERVIEW: The goals of Fourth grade Spanish are to explore language and culture in a variety of themes and contexts. Each thematic unit has a clear purpose and contains specific functions, vocabulary, and linguistic structures and expressions related to real life contexts that will be practiced through specific individual and collaborative tasks in order to develop the 4 language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Each unit also contains connections to other disciplines, such as mathematics and social studies. Technology is an integral part of the curriculum and each unit provides opportunities for the students to broaden their skills with this tool. The class will meet in the LS computer lab so that we can maximize use with the computers. Each unit also reintroduces topics from past years in new ways to reinforce former material and also allow new students to have exposure to key topics. The class meets twice a week for 45 minutes and is conducted in Spanish so that the students can maximize their exposure to the Spanish language. Evidence of understanding is demonstrated by each individual's ability to complete a task at their own pace successfully in 3 modes: Interpretive: (example: Identifying vocabulary by selecting the correct picture) Interpersonal: (example:Asking or Answering a question) Presentational: (example:gesture or say a short phrase to illustrate topic).
