Why Teach Programming?

National Coalition of Girls Schools/STEM

• 100% of seniors take two or more elective STEM classes (2010-2011)
• Integrated Physics and Algebra II classes
• Award-winning Robotics program
• Experienced STEM faculty include physicians, veterinarians, research physicists, computer scientists, bio-statisticians and mathematicians
• 34% of graduates pursue STEM majors in college (2010) vs. the 5% national average for women in the United States

We are looking at education in exciting new ways in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.

More and more these STEM disciplines—traditionally taught in schools as separate fields of study, but rarely separate in the real world—are being taught in an integrated, interdisciplinary way that more closely resembles their interaction in universities, research labs, and the business world.
