Dear Future Fifth Grader,

Summer is almost here and we’re already looking forward to the 2013-2014 school year.  Your summer homework is:

- Read both The Year of the Book by Andrea Cheng and Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage and complete a Rooster Game card for each.  The layout for the cards is explained here.

-  Send a postcard to one of us telling a little bit about you.  You should also write at least one thing you’ve done over the summer on the card.

-  Summer math work assigned by your current teacher.

Ms. Chase’s homeroom should send summer work and postcards to:

Mrs. Palmieri

17 Doane Road

Barrington, RI 02806

Ms. Pine’s homeroom should send summer work and postcards to:

Mrs. Malkin

660 Blackstone Blvd.

Providence, RI 02906

You are not required to purchase the two summer reading books.  We encourage you to share with a friend or take the books out from your local library.

You may wish to read more than the two assigned Rooster Game books over the summer.  We ask that you not read True (…sort of) by Katherine Hannigan, The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate and Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  This is so we can enjoy these books as a class during the school year.  In addition, please do not read any of the books required for Grade Five before the school year begins.

Have a safe and happy summer,

Mrs. Malkin & Mrs. Palmieri
