Tips from the Trainer

Dear Parents and Athletes,

My name is Jen Gallant and I'm a certified athletic trainer. I'm currently the Director of Athletic Training at Performance Physical Therapy and have been part of Lincoln School's health team for more than 8 years.

My role on the sidelines is to keep the student athletes healthy while they participate in Lincoln Athletics. This is done through injury prevention, health education, management of on-field injuries, treatment and rehabilitation exercises, and act as a referral source when further medical treatment is needed. I'm available every afternoon for Lincoln's student-athletes as they prepare for their practices and I am present for all practices and home events. Though most of my work is done behind the scenes, my daily goal is to keep the Lynx healthy and safe.

I often get asked nutrition-based questions regarding the best options for workouts and game days. I have provided a few documents that can help with those decisions.

For the crew team specifically, "Building a Performance Plate" article is helpful. For the lacrosse team, the article titled "Lacrosse Sports Nutrition" gives good advice. Overall, the "Eating on the Road", "Hydration", and "Healthy Grocery Shopping" articles can help us all!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns or questions during the course of the season. My goals are to reduce risk of injury, help your daughter's performance reach new heights, and cheer on the Lynx!

Go Lynx!
