GilliattSharing the Journey
By Erin Lynch Gilliatt ‘92

“The more things change, the more they stay the same.” That is probably the expression that most often runs through my mind now that I’m both a Lincoln alumna (’92) and a Lincoln parent (2023 and 2025) and get to spend time once again circling East Orchard Avenue looking for parking. Some things definitely haven’t changed: Lumina may have a new name, but it still gives me chills to watch the seniors process in with their candles. Sitting in the Ebner, Elson, Hart Music Center during a moment of silence can instantly transport me back to Friday silent meetings. Unfortunately for my kids, I’m also just as likely to be racing across the red bridge, late for school in the mornings.

But as much as all those fantastic Lincoln traditions haven’t changed, I am completely amazed by all of the innovations that Lincoln has made in the twenty-odd years since I was a student. From smart boards in the classrooms, to Kindergarten newscasts on the web, to implementing leadership development training for Middle School and Upper School students, I’m thrilled to report that Lincoln remains on the cutting edge, ensuring that another generation of young women have the tools they need to succeed.

One thing I have learned in my role as Alumna Co-Chair of the 2011-12 Annual Fund is that the Fund supports the very programs that set Lincoln apart as an innovative and creative school. I’m proud to see firsthand how my contribution supports each and every program, faculty member, and student at Lincoln. In this season of giving, I hope you’ll join me and my family in making a gift to the Annual Fund today. As alumnae, we can help share the journey of current students as they become the amazing women leaders of tomorrow.

The curving driveway at 301 Butler Avenue remains a vivid and indelible memory of that last dash to get to those red doors on time, and if I was late, hopefully not run into Ms. Schaffner...Returning to Lincoln for Morgan Stone Day was an honor, and it was a privilege to show my work as a filmmaker. Lumina: What's It All About?Charles Cofone
By Charles Cofone, Director of Operational Affairs

Lumina is not just on my mind at this time of year. If the excitement and enthusiasm of the all-school rehearsal on Tuesday is any indication, it’s certainly on the students’ minds as well. There were comments of “this is my FAVORITE” whenever the next song title flashed on the screen. Read more...
